Cert expiry tracking
Cert expiry tracking is the ongoing process of monitoring the expiry dates of worker safety certifications so that no one is dispatched to a job they are no longer qualified for.
What it means in oilfield operations
Every safety ticket an oilfield worker carries has an expiry date. H2S Alive expires every three years. CSTS expires every three years. First aid, confined space, ground disturbance, fall protection, TDG. A mid-sized service company with 80 workers and six cert types is tracking close to 500 individual expiry dates. In most companies, this tracking lives in a spreadsheet, a shared drive, or a compliance system that stores the records but does not connect them to dispatch. The coordinator checks manually, usually from memory, sometimes by pulling up the spreadsheet before the morning dispatch call. The failure mode is not dramatic. A cert expires on a quiet week and nobody notices. Two months later, the worker is dispatched to a job that requires that cert. The operator checks at the gate. The crew is turned away. The cost lands on the service company, not on the worker who forgot to renew.
How HitchGuardian uses this
HitchGuardian tracks every certification expiry date and connects it to the dispatch workflow. When a cert is approaching expiry, the system flags the worker so the coordinator can schedule renewal before it becomes a dispatch problem. When a dispatcher builds a crew for a job, the system verifies every assigned worker's certs are current against the job requirements. Expired certs block the assignment from clearing, not the worker from existing in the system.
